VCE VET Dance at Academy of Dance
Why VET Dance? (from our RTO, Dance Training Organisation)
VCE VET at a glance:
- Use your dance training toward a Certificate II and ATAR
- Students attend in Year 10 for Unit 1/2 (Term 1-3 only) and Year 11 for Unit 3/4 (Term 1-3 only)
- Students train in jazz and one other style (typically lyrical, contemporary or tap)
- Students attend every second Friday 4.15pm-6.45pm* at the studio for their theory work
- Students learn two solos (one in each style they’re studying) in Unit 1/2 which they can take to competitions. They then have those solos tweaked in difficulty in Unit 3/4 (again, can use at comps).
- For those completing Unit 3/4 (their second year), 50% of the VCE VET grade is their theory work and 50% of their grade is an external assessment of them demonstrating their two solos
* There are online alternatives for people who can’t attend on a Friday evening due to religious beliefs.
